awareness of the coin...

I never give away 'my' penny...but today, as I walked by this one, I did.
There's a guy, who is homeless?...sitting on the concrete just before the Chicago River Bridge...always there...he's at ground level and is not aware of the penny this sits 18" from his nose...instead, he looks up asking for $$...so, I bend over, almost getting run over by the loopers, and pick-up the penny and think I better give it to him, or it'll look as if I'm a very bad person..stopping to get the penny that was obviously meant for his cup...so he got it.

Then, as I walked to the train from 5pm mass, I think of the time I picked up that dime on another bridge...just feet from a beggar and kept it. Today, I found that dime in the train building, just in the joint of a shop doorway...again, almost getting run over by peeps...such is life.
