In My Pocket (I keep the coin-mpm addition)

I have memories in my pocket.

They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole.

They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

read this poem at a Legacy post and recall reading it before...so it's posted here now to remind me of the coins that bring back the memories...every moment of the day.

raining pennies I tell you!!

well...the remainder of Friday 6/8/07 was amazing. recall I'd found 1 the night before, then two more on the train, then two on the way to the train, then one one the way to mass, and now:

one on the way to the train at the news-stand guy...did not give it to him this time
then as I'm riding home on the bike, I decided to ride down the alley, rarely do that, for many reasons...it's the alley I pushed Christine in the stroller for the last time the day before she died...so I was thinking of her and as I come out of the ally, I spot a penny at the curb about 25 feet from the spot where I'd parked the car that same day...the last time I rode w/ her in the car...
then moments later, less than a 1/2 a block, I'm just getting up to speed and I have to stop and back up to get the penny in the middle of the road...man!

that's 9 pennies in less that 24 hours and 8 in one day...wow!!

later that w/e on Sat. I shared this penny story w/ Shawn...she liked the story since she finds pennies and has lost a sister and just her Dad...she aslo share and amazing story about hearing from her Dad...wow! again.

thanks Christine for all the pennies and coins and for having Shawn share that story.

flurrie of pennies

6.07.07 pm as Brian and I walk to the Sox game, I pick up one in the tree bed off the sidewalk...
6.08.07 12:15 am, then as I climb the stairs to the upper deck of the train, I find 2 more
6.08.07 8:15 am, then as I walk along the street to the train, I find one....then 100 feet away another...thanks for five in just over 12 hours...

0.25 x 2 and bikes

well, on Friday, riding my bike home from the train, I see a shiny something on the road...I stop the bike, turn around and pick up the quarter...been a while since any coin, so instantly caught up w/ 0.25 cents...then on my 37 mile bike ride along route 66 from Lincoln to Springfield on Saturday morning, I spot another shiny something on the shoulder of the road at the top of the large hill along the route...but w/ so many peeps behind me on bikes, I decided to keep going and come back for it...so, after we pick up my car in Lincoln I pull over onto the shoulder of route 66/business 55 to pick up the quarter...thanks.

later that night as Paul and I head into the grocery for some beer...he spots a penny and tosses it at me...I give it back to him saying it was for him. a good w/e for coins--thanks C!
